The Diet and Health Connection:
Our choice of diet profoundly affects our health. Of the leading causes of death, four are directly related to nutrition, and another- motor vehicle and other accidents- is related to drinking alcohol.
Many older people suffer from debilitating conditions that could have been laregely prevented had they known and applied the nutrition principles known today. The chronic diseases - heart disease, diabetes, some kinds of cancer, dental disease, and adult bone loss- all have a connection to poor diet. The diseases can not be prevented by a good diet alone; they are to some extent determined by a person's genetic constitution, activities, and lifestyle. Within the range set by your genetic inheritance, however, the likelihood of developing these diseases is strongly influenced by your food choices. Although our choice of diet affects our health ,unfortunately we always choose what we like to eat instead of choosing healthy food :(
